Key Messages from the latest Merseyside Safeguarding Adults Board meeting in August 2020
• Financial and Material Abuse (Scams)
o If you are the victim of a scam or attempted scam, however minor, there may be hundreds or thousands of others in a similar position. Your information may form part of one big jigsaw and may be vital to completing the picture. #MerseysideSafeguardingAdultsBoard
o Following #Covid-19 shielding, more people may be suffering from #self-neglect. #MerseysideSafeguardingAdultsBoard in conjunction with #LiverpoolJohnMooresUniversity have published ‘The Short Guide to Working with People in Circumstances of Complex Self-Neglect’. The #SelfNeglectToolkit can be found here – https://www.merseysidesafeguardingadultsboard.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Self-neglect-guidance.pdf.
• Domestic Abuse
o During Covid-19 Domestic Abuse has risen by 49%. #MerseysideSafeguardingAdultsBoard working in partnership with Community Safety Partnerships are raising awareness to let people know that #YouAreNotAlone. Not many people know this, but it’s something we want everyone to be aware of – it could save a life. If you are in a situation where you cannot speak, dial 999 and then press 55 to alert the Police Operator you need assistance but cannot talk. #SilentSolution
